Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, working with clients all over the world.

No phoenix, just an epiphany
With sixteen years experience in the design industry and eight years into my own successful design consultancy I decided it was time to acknowledge my evolution as a designer.
Relaunching my consultancy as ReMaster in 2022 signals a conscious shift I’ve been making based on a semi-recent epiphany I had trying to give one of ‘those’ elevator pitches about my work and why I love it. I summised my work as “making complex information visual and accessible”.
I realised this was the common thread in most of my work, from:
- summarising five years of earthquake resilience research into a suite of infographics;
- designing figures for international science publications;
- analysing an enormous data set for a report presented to the UN;
- working within large organisations to refocus and define their brand and gather everyone onto the same waka;
- strategising, planning, and creating content for social media campaigns to help prepare Aotearoa for future earthquakes and so much more!
Wicked problems
I’m one of perhaps a fairly rare breed that enjoys tackling wicked problems - the really perplexing, big juicy problems. Over the years I’ve assembled a pretty sharp ‘design thinking’ tool kit to not only wrangle wicked problems but explain them simply to other people, visually.
I gravitate towards projects that will help people and planet. My focus was initially ‘just’ sustainable projects, but these days that horizon has broadened to include resilience in all its forms.
